“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”
Too often, lifestyles that are sinful and ungodly are glamorized today. On television, print advertisement, and even social media, rarely do you see things that exemplify godliness and holiness. Our blessings come when we don't settle for mediocrity, but instead when we press for higher standards and a higher calling (Philippians 3:14). When we choose God's way (holiness), we will prosper in every area of our lives.
Most Gracious and Heavenly Father, please forgive me when I've settled for mediocrity and believed the lies of the world. I know that sin brings deception, heartache, weakness, weariness and more, but you came that I might have abundant life, strength and victory. Help me to hold myself to higher standards. Help me make the right choices. Help me to seek you first. Help me to understand that living for you is the only option for a victorious life. In Jesus Name, Amen.
